How Far In Advance of a Special Event Should I Schedule My Touch-Up Treatments?
Planning for a big event often includes picking the perfect outfit, nailing down a hairstyle, and of course—making sure skin looks flawless and refreshed. At The Artistry NP in Northwest Portland, Tierney Newman, FNP-C, and our team frequently hear the same question:
“How far in advance should I schedule my touch-up treatments before a special event?”
Whether it’s a wedding, reunion, vacation, or professional photo shoot, timing aesthetic treatments correctly is key to achieving the best, most natural-looking results.
For Botox or Dysport: 2–4 Weeks Before
Botox and Dysport usually take about 3–7 days to start working, with full results showing up around the two-week mark. To be safe, you’ll want to book your appointment at least 2 weeks in advance—4 weeks is even better. That way, your results are fully settled, and there’s plenty of time for a quick touch-up if needed.
For Dermal Fillers: 3–4 Weeks Before
If you’re planning to get dermal fillers—whether it’s for your lips, cheeks, or under-eyes—schedule your appointment 3 to 4 weeks ahead of time. Fillers can sometimes cause mild swelling or bruising, so giving your skin time to heal ensures everything looks smooth and natural by the big day.
For Skin Treatments (e.g., Broadband Light): 3–6 Weeks Before
Thinking about improving your skin’s texture and glow with a broadband light (BBL) treatment? These are best done 3–6 weeks in advance to allow for healing and optimal results. Your skin will continue to improve in the weeks following the treatment, so earlier is better!
Plan Ahead—Your Skin Will Thank You!
If you’re unsure where to start, schedule a consultation 6–8 weeks before your event. That gives us time to create a custom plan that fits your goals and your timeline.
